John Barnett is the Emergency Management and Training Supervisor of Safety and Security for Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS). In this critical role, he leads all emergency management functions within the district, ensuring the safety and preparedness of students and staff. His responsibilities include drill management, annual tabletop exercises, and overseeing the district's comprehensive emergency response plans. John brings over two decades of experience to LCPS, having served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force as a police investigator and instructor. Following his military service, he transitioned to the private sector, serving as a Global Training Manager for Amazon Web Services. Prior to joining LCPS, he spent five years in various roles within the Safety and Security Division of Fairfax County Public Schools, Virginia. John's educational background includes a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland and an A.A. in Instructor of Technology and Military Science from the Community College of the Air Force.
